Purchase and activate a SIM card from your mobile phone service provider.
- An SMS/MMS (voice+text) enabled SIM card with unlimited MMS & SMS is recommended if you want to use the MMS mode.
- If you want to use in "Email via SMTP" mode, you will need a SIM card that also supports internet data (SMTP or SSMTP).

Unpack all components (included : Trophy Cam, antenna, user manual, belt, usb cabl, PIN Code warning leaflet).

Note - SIM card, SD card and batteries are not included.

Check that the Trophy Cam switch is on the OFF position.

Insert the SIM card into the Wireless Trophy Cam HD (slot on top left edge)., make sure the SIM card is activated and the PIN Code (Sim Lock via password) is deactivated. If the SIM card still has a PIN code protection, the Trophy Cam Wireless will not transmit.

- You can ask your local shop to do it for you
- You can do it yourself by inserting the SIM card your phone, and by deactivating the PIN CODE/SIM lock in the settings.

Install batteries (12x AA lithium) and an SD or SDHC card (up to 32GB).

The Trophy Cam can operate with only 4 batteries but Bushnell recommends using a full set of Energizer® Lithium AA batteries (12) to obtain maximum battery life.
Do not mix old and new batteries, do not mix battery types (lithium and/or alkaline). Do not use rechargeable batteries.

Attach the antenna by screwing it onto the socket at the top of the camera. Remove the small black rubber cap, which you can keep for future use/storage. Do not overtighten the antenna.

Install an empty and formatted SD card (up to 32GB – SD card or SDHC).

Step 4 : ECO & WAKE Modes and SMS commands

Once you have finished your setting in the previous steps (Step 2 or 3), the Trophy Cam green bars will blink a few times untill you know you are connected to the network.

You can slide the switch of your Trophy Cam from SETUP to ON position.

As all normal Trophy Cam do, the LED on the front face of the Trophy Cam will blink 5 times before being ready to take/transmit pictures.

Remember that your Trophy Cam can operate in two different battery modes. Either WAKE mode or ECO mode. Both modes have their specificities and ECO mode is the default mode.

Either mode can be selected only by sending SMS commands from your smartphone ( #wake# or #eco# ) with the phone number which controls the Trophy Cam.

By default your Trophy Cam is in ECO mode when you buy it.

  • ECO mode gives you 50% more battery life than WAKE mode.
  • ECO mode switch off the modem between each picture detection and transmission to save battery life.
  • ECO mode will not answer to your SMS commands automatically, it will need to wait for another picture to be triggered and transmitted before taking your pending SMS commands.
  • ECO mode will not accept the #pic# command.
  • ECO mode will not answer to your SMS commands if there is absolutely no trigger which means you have to wait untill 3:00pm for the Trophy Cam's daily check.

But you can also switch your Trophy Cam to WAKE mode. If you do so, you camera will always start in WAKE mode, until you change it back to ECO.

To change to WAKE mode, you need to send the SMS command #wake# to your Trophy Cam and wait for a new picture to be triggered (you can trigger one with your hand if you are near the Trophy Cam or wait for an animal/human to do so).

The Trophy Cam will send you the picture and will change from ECO mode to WAKE mode by saying : Mode Wake - (SMS-Commands instantly processed.)

You are now in WAKE mode.

  • WAKE mode will keep the modem always ON.
  • WAKE mode has a battery life of around 2 months.
  • WAKE mode will process your SMS commands immediately.
  • WAKE mode will accept the #pic# command if you want to request a new picture.

You can also switch back to the ECO mode by sending the sms command #eco# and because you are currently in WAKE mode, this command will be processed immediately.

You can also read more details about WAKE and ECO modes as well as SMS commands here.
